Imperial Knights Tania
Route 2's facility infiltrator: stealth gameplay, dagger combat, and the party's most fragile member.
Tania (タニア) is the Route 2 specialist. She appears during slave facility sections where you control her directly in stealth gameplay — a significant departure from the standard command-battle format. She is not a front-line fighter; her value is her dagger kit and the unique mechanical section she enables. Route 2 players either love this distinction or reload until they land the facility stealth checks.
This page covers her role, her kit, what the stealth sections actually require, and why she is the most mechanically demanding character to use correctly.
Profile
- Japanese name: タニア
- Role: Stealth specialist, dagger combat, Route 2 exclusive
- Join timing: Slave facility (Route 2 only)
- Leave timing: End of facility section (Route 2 only)
- Route availability: Route 2 only
How Tania joins (Route 2)
Tania does not join from a rescue or a town event. She is the character you control during the slave facility infiltration on Route 2. After the hideout failure path, Diana is captured and taken to the facility. During this section, you play as Tania in stealth mode — not Diana.
The stealth gameplay involves:
- Avoiding detection from guards and surveillance
- Navigating through facility corridors
- Disabling traps as Tania
- Occasional combat using Tania’s dagger kit
Being spotted three times during the facility section sets a flag — this is one of the few places where a stealth failure has permanent story consequences.
Stealth section mechanics
The facility stealth is a risk-reward system:
- Detection meter — being seen increases a visibility counter
- Getting spotted 3 times — triggers a flag that affects story outcomes
- Traps — can be disabled with Tania’s kit or avoided by pathing
- Save points — use them before difficult stealth sections
Unlike combat, there is no retry on a stealth failure. Flags are written and persist. This makes Tania the character most likely to produce a “I should have saved before that corridor” moment.
Combat role after stealth sections
After the facility stealth portion, Tania transitions to standard party combat with a dagger focus:
- Dagger attacks — fast, multiple hits
- Back-stab bonus — extra damage from stealth positioning (in applicable fights)
- Low HP pool — she is squishier than Diana or Tear
- No healing abilities — she cannot sustain herself
Tania’s combat ceiling is lower than Ellis’s fire magic or Tear’s Ether Knight kit. Use her for what she is good at: fast single-target dagger strikes and stealth missions.
The Bio Worm boss fight
The Bio Worm in the facility is the most dangerous encounter in Route 2. Unlike other bosses:
- It has a delayed-breath attack that is a scripted defeat if it completes
- The timer mechanic means you must kill it before the animation finishes
- Standard combat tactics (elemental weaknesses, status nulls) do not apply
Tania’s dagger kit is not designed for burst damage against the Bio Worm. The intended approach is:
- Full party with Diana as primary damage
- Male mercenary tanks to absorb hits
- All available burst damage before the breath triggers
This fight is why Route 2 is considered the hardest route on a first clear.
Tania and the party system
Tania does not appear on Routes 1 or 3. Her availability is strictly Route 2, which means:
- You cannot hire her on NG+ for Route 1 or 3
- She does not show up in the mercenary board on other files
- Her scene flags only exist in Route 2 playthroughs
For gallery completion, Tania’s scenes require a Route 2 playthrough with specific outcomes. The gallery guide has the full scene flag logic.
How Tania affects Route 2 completion
Route 2 completion rate is lower than Routes 1 and 3 because:
- Stealth section — higher retry tolerance than combat
- Bio Worm timer — requires burst coordination
- Lower loot availability — facility sections have less gold than Route 3’s casino farming
Players who want the full three-route experience should complete Route 2 last, after building up levels and understanding the combat system from Route 1.
