Imperial Knights Tear Lamley
The empire's strongest Ether Knight — lightning, loyalty, and a habit of leaving before rituals.
Tear Lamley (ティア・ラムリー) is the knight Kagura puts next to Diana on the store page. English bio: strongest in the empire thanks to Ether Knight lightning, unwavering loyalty, hunting corruption inside the country while still destroying its listed enemies. She is the living version of the class Diana is trying to enter, and she is also the ally who walks out right before the ritual so the mage can talk to Diana alone.
This page is Route 1-centric because that is where Tear is a standing party member. Other routes still touch the Ether Knights; they do not copy her join calendar.
When she joins (Route 1)
- Silved questline → Robust Fort. Follow
!marks and talk to her in the field. - Report the fort at Silved guild (junior rank).
- Night event at the lord’s house, sleep, talk to Tear again.
- She joins and Holy Capital Protea opens.
If Protea is locked, you are missing a Tear conversation, not a boat. The walkthrough lists the sleep/talk order because it is easy to report the fort and then wander.
She stays through Protea’s cathedral and catacombs, escorts the Seikuri / Spirit Cave stretch, then leaves when you report Mud Poison to the emperor. That leave is the setup for becoming an Ether Knight. Unequip her at the cave exit. She rejoins for the Svalt battlefield. After a Route 1 clear she is mercenary-board legal on New Game+.
How she plays
- Role. Fast lightning attacker, the damage ceiling until Diana’s ritual.
- Armor-break. Yes — Repair Kits apply. A bound Tear is a wasted slot; she has no heal identity to fall back on.
- Compared with Diana. Tear is the finished product. Diana is the project. After the ritual the two lightning kits overlap; keep both if you want burst, or park Tear on the board if you need a mercenary’s utility instead.
- Compared with Lysithea. Do not bench the healer to keep Tear’s portrait on screen. Mud Poison and Sati punish vanity parties. See the party tier list.
Tear’s loyalty fantasy is “I will burn the rot,” which the plot tests when imperial facilities and revolutionary jails start looking similar. You do not need to love the court to use her skill row.
Story job
Tear is Diana’s evaluator. House Ashley’s name is dirt; Tear still treats field competence as evidence. She is also a window into Luna: both Ether Knights, both willing to leave a room when the order’s paperwork gets in the way. The game will not give you Luna as a fourth slot. It gives you Tear and asks if the order can still be worth joining.
Her absences are mechanical writing. The ritual would feel cheap if the strongest knight stood there nodding. Svalt would feel cheap if she never came back. Strip gear, hire a temp, welcome her later.
Common mistakes
- Leaving unique cards on her when she exits to the basement.
- Skipping the Silved night sleep and thinking she is bugged.
- Bringing her to the cardinal fight without Lysithea and without herbal medicine.
- Expecting her on a Route 2 first-file and following this calendar anyway.
If you like Tear, play Route 1 first
The beginner guide and route guide both tell you to earn the guild fee yourself. That is the file where Tear is a companion instead of a cameo. Route 3’s “strike the empire” pitch still involves Ether Knights as an institution; it does not recreate the Robust Fort meet-cute.
For lightning as a class rather than a person, the Ether Knight page is Diana’s version of Tear’s job. For lightning as a slot, keep Tear until the report, then decide if the mercenary fee is worth it next to Ellis or a nameless hire.
Official English spelling is Tear Lamley. Japanese talk still uses ティア. Search both if you are matching DLsite charts to Steam names.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions Imperial Knights players ask first.
When does Tear Lamley join?
On Route 1, after Robust Fort and the Silved lord night event. Talk to her again after sleeping.
Why did Tear leave my party?
She exits after the Mud Poison report so Diana can take the Ether Knight ritual. Unequip her first; she returns for Svalt.
Is Tear the same as Luna?
No. Luna is Diana's missing sister. Tear is a different Ether Knight who still serves the empire.
Should I use Tear after Diana becomes an Ether Knight?
If you want two lightning attackers, yes. If you need a healer or a status-null mercenary, bench her. See the party tier list.
